Cape 500

The Cape 500 is a pre-cashiering machine. Upon a patron approaching the machine, the CRT screen shall display the present time and date plus initial operating instructions. Four push buttons allow the patron to choose from the menu and to correct problems he may encounter.
Upon insertion of the entry ticket, the fee is computed based upon: issue time, date, rate structure, and validation, if any. The fee is displayed and the money acceptors are enabled. Coins in 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, and $1.00 denominations are accepted. Bills in $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00 are accepted.

Over-payments are returned in change: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, and bills in $1.00 and $5.00 units.

The Cape 500 may incorporate the following:

  • Lost Ticket button computes fixed fee.
  • Transaction Terminate button is for patrons who are short of funds. By depressing the button, the ticket and fees deposited are returned.

Upon demand, a receipt is printed with location, date, and amount. The printer will also print out operatiional reports upon demand if the unit is not interconnected to a remote PC computer.
All revenue data is stored in a non-volatile memory for print-out or data transmission at desired time. Loss of power will not affect this memory.
Upon completion of transaction, a time capsule is issued or a coded ticket with a grace period. The grace period allows the patrom to retrieve his vehicle and drive to the exit lane where he deposits the time capsule or the ticket.
Multiple entrances and exits may be interfaced together. Multiple structures may be controlled by a master IBM-XT computer with revenue and fault print-outs by printer.
Visa/Master Cards may be accepted for payment of fees. The card reader is tied to a dedicated telephone line for up-date of lost, stolen or cancelled cards. This is an optional package.
The Cape 500 contains self-diagnostics. In the event of a malfunction, the program is designed to find the problem and display the cause.
The bill-dispensing mechanism has a fail-safe check built in. This check makes the $1.00 and $5.00 cassettes interchangeable without paying out five-dollar for one-dollar bills due to error of the attendant. The cassettes may only be opened in the counting room. ATM fet money is not required. All coins received are deposited in a self-locking cash vault that can only be opened inside the counting room. Pay back system does not require ATM fet bills.
Time, date, rate structures, and validation values are customer-programmable via a key switch, 4 push buttons and the CRT screen. Rate structures, reports, etc. require a dedicated password.
